Our Waka, Bus, and Train

Tāmaki Makaurau is Aotearoa’s largest city and many of us may travel long distances to get to work, school, church and our community groups and everywhere we need to go. No matter what waka we find ourselves in, we should make plans to help us prepare for the unexpected.

Start the plan for your waka

○ Do I travel with drinking water?
○ Do I know public places where I can get free water?
○ Do I travel with an umbrella and rain jacket?
○ Do I travel with a torch and batteries?
○ Do I travel with a change of clothes?
○ Do I travel with a first aid kit?
○ Where do I find up-to-date information on bus and train services?
○ Where can I top up my HOP card?
○ Am I wearing shoes that I can walk home in if I had to?
○ Do I have cash if the ATM isn’t working?
○ Do I have enough petrol in the car to get home?
○ Do I have enough petrol in the car if I can’t fill up for a few days?
